liding wear on the wheel-rail system of stackercranes, particularly on the running wheels, is a common cause of damage. Severe wear can lead to equipment downtime, resulting in additional material and time costs. Although wheel-rail systems can be designed according to DIN EN 13001-3-3, the standard does not provide guide-lines for quantifying wheel wear. Therefore, this paper develops a co-simulation-based calculation method between MATLAB/Simulink and Simpack to quantitatively assess the wear rate of stacker crane’s running wheels under various configuration parameters. This method complements the design and dimensioning of the stacker crane’s wheel-rail system. The simulation-based calculation method is validated through Hesse’s empirical model.
